Moving the laser!

Today was moving day, and how much excitement!

Loving garage seeks laser cutter, 220 power, compressed air, ventilation, and lots of loving use will be provided!

We have a birdhouse builder in the Keys. His yard is whimsical.

Eryck Lee, Laser (center), and Kirk Carpenter chatting at Kirk's.

Eryck pries up the laser to get it onto the plywood that he set up on the ramps to the trailer.

Eryck and the laser in the trailer! So much winning!

Laser in trailer in front of its new home.

There are no pictures of unloading the laser because there were a lot of wasps, and Kirk is very allergic, and it was so hot it was hard to touch the laser after just a short time outside, and it was heavy and moderately scary work to roll it off of the trailer.

But everything worked. So YAY YAY YAY, and just for emphasis, YAY!

View from the driveway, the garage seeking laser cutter has been filled!

View from inside, the laser is a massive beast which dominates the garage!

So with massive thanks to Eryck and Kirk the laser made it to its happy new home!

Chiller in car

It took two of us to load this chiller, but I was able to move it out...slowly.

Chiller in cart

I made this little cart for my sweetie. It is an old cutting board that was in the house, but didn't seem to have a home, and castors from Amazon.

Wiring

I went to Mendo Mills and asked where I would find a dryer splitter. And I explained my use case.

"No, we wouldn't have anything like that" the nice man answered.

So I bought a 25 foot 12 AWG extension cord that has three outlets on the end, and these parts.

Not shown, an outlet box to hold it all, I am not a monster!

Wiring

And wired it up!

Laser, set up with chiller and compresser

The chiller and air compressor are installed.

Computer works!

The computer works! I had a pile of e waste, including lots of old cables, in the garage. And as part of 'operation make things suck less' I bagged it up and staged it to go elsewhere. But then, I needed a monitor cable. The monitor supported old school video and DVI, and the computer had HDMI and DVI. So DVI it was! Except, I didn't have a DVI cable in my box of monitor cables.

But I did have several in the bags of e waste!

The wrong reaction to that is 'I will never get rid of anything ever again.'

And then the wireless keyboard and mouse didn't work, but that was easy, just needed new batteries.

Control panel is alive!

Seeing the laser cutter's control panel alive! And the arrows work to move the head. So things are so close to working!

Just need to fiddle with the connection from the computer to the laser.

Stupidist Way

Got to the Moose Lodge and John was wearing this shirt. But no one did anything stupid. I hope.

Thought it would be easy!

And this is always relevant! But it is more 'I didn't do this because I thought it would be easy. I didn't actually think about it one way or another!'
